Objective 2 – Examine
Objective 2 is led by Principal Investigators Dr. Anne Harris, Dr. Linda Rothman, and Dr. Andrew Howard with support from Master’s student Adam Awoke (TMU). Co-Investigators include Dr. Raktim Mitra (TMU), Brent Hagel (University of Calgary), and Dr. Brice Batomen Kuimi (University of Toronto).
Cities routinely need evidence on the impacts of interventions on health, equity, and mobility outcomes. There is evidence that access to safe, sustainable transportation is inequitable. Objective 2 will examine the distributional equity of intervention implementation through sociospatial analyses and community surveys and focus groups. Implementation success requires that interventions be effective, and that this effectiveness be equitable. Objective 2 also aims to evaluate the equity of health, mobility, and satisfaction outcomes. We will use secondary data to assess neighbourhood-level impacts on mode choice, motor vehicle speed, and collisions in our study jurisdictions. The community survey will allow us to assess individual-level impacts of the interventions on self-reported transportation mode choice, perceived injury risk, and neighbourhood satisfaction.
